The Cat's Pajamas Tuesday Challenge March

So it seems to be a month of better late than never for me, LOL.  I haven't played with The Cat's Pajamas challenge in a while now but I had some time today when I was creating some other stuff and little bunny was calling my name since its Easter!

This month's TCP challenge was neutrals + 1 color AND only two layers (plus base)...YIKES!  The color theme no problemo, the CAS layers, way hard!

So I ended up with a card that I think is pretty stinkin' cute even without a kazillion layers!  I stamped the cute little bunny from Wish on some Neenah white and then colored him with my speccies.

GB5, GB4, CT4, CT3, CT2
IG3, IG2, IG1, FS5

Flesh isn't a color but a neutral, right?  So I added FS5 (kind of a pink but in the flesh tones so it counts, right??) for his nose and then added some Clear Glaze pen onto that.  I also added Sunflower Micro Glitter (from Stampendous) to the moon and star with a glue pen.

Since an embellishment wasn't excluded I added some stars to match my paper (from October Afternoon) cut from the TCP Stars CutUps die.

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you had a fabby Easter!

Art Journaling Class

A couple of weekends ago I did an Art Journaling class at Betty's Stamping and Scrapbooking Room called "Taking your Art Journaling to the Next Layer".  I promised the girls at the store as well as Jamie from The Crafter's Workshop that I would post pictures and I have finally gotten around to it!  Sorry it took me so long!

We played in our Art Journals with lots of stencils from TCW and a huge variety of mediums:
Ink Sprays, Gesso, Gel Medium, Modeling Paste, Gelatos (Faber-Castell), Acrylic Paints, Distress Paints (Tim Holtz), Modeling Creme & Glitter Paste (Splash of Color).

First up are a couple of pages that I worked on during class as demos.   This one started as Dylusions Ink Sprays...

then I stenciled Glitter Paste over the CityScape stencil from TCW.

I added some more stenciling with Perfect Pearls sprays and Celtic Circle...and finished with some doodling.

The next page I had started by doing my background with Penny Black bg stamps and Stampers Big Brush pens (Faber-Castell).  I **think** I added gel medium, acrylic paint, and gelatos during class as my background layers.

I added the Vine stencil with spray...

I stenciled the Birds in paint then added gelatos and doodling around the bird and branches.

And the Solace stencil with teal Modeling Creme really made the page pop...

I finished it by stamping Life is Art from Stampendous...

We played with a variety of styles on our pages including tips I picked up from CHA from Dina Wakely, Ronda Polazzari, Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, and Nathalie Kalbach while at TCW booth.

Here's some of the pages from my students...

Stampendous Templates with Gelatos Tutorial

Its the end of March and I am finally getting around to finishing a project that I started weeks ago for this month's Stampendous challenge: Templates.  Did you know that all the new Jumbo stamps come with FREE stencil/masks?  Way cool.

First gather your supplies:
Stampendous Jumbo Poppy Stamp (and masks)
Stampendous Music Score background stamp
Stampendous Clear Detail EP
Versafine Ink
Faber Castell Gelatos
Paint brush and water

I started by placing the reverse mask on white paper and coloring inside that with my Gelatos from Faber Castell.

After I scribbled on some color I added some water to blend it out a bit.

While that was stil wet I added more Gelatos and rubbed that in with my finger.

After that was dry I stamped the Jumbo Poppy stamp in Black Versafine ink, added Clear Detail EP and embossed it with my heat gun.  Don't the Gelatos make the most beautiful vibrant colors?

I added a bit of turquoise gelatos around the edge of the poppy.  Next I used the inside mask and stamped over the top with the Music Score stamp in Versafine ink.

I know its too late to play in our challenge this month but I wanted to share anyway!  Don't fret though, our new challenge wil be up in just a couple of days!

Gelatos with Dreamweaver Stencils

This is the last week to play along with the March "Bloomin' Spring" challenge at Dreamweaver Stencils.  Please join us for a chance to win a new stencil!

This week I played around with using my Gelatos through a stencil.  I pulled out  Fairy Flower Circle and dry embossed it on white cardstock through my Cuttlebug.  While the stencil was still taped to the cardstock I applied my gelatos.

I added some Blood Orange, Watermelon, Metallic Melon, and Pistachio Gelatos (from Faber Castell) through the stencil using a blending tool from Tsukineko.  Its so much prettier and rich in real life!

The Thanks stencil was done the same way with the Pistachio gelato.  Papers are from Basic Grey and ribbon is Creative Impressions.

Please be sure to hop around and see what the rest of the team has created for you this week:

Spectrum Noir Spring Challenge

Have you joined the March/April Spring Challenge over at the Spectrum Noir blog yet?  You still have time!  You can see all the details at THIS post.  I have had this Easter Art Journal page on my mind for a while now and finally got it done.

My background started with a coat of gesso then I added white acrylic paint when that was dry.  While the paint was stil wet I dropped some Spectrum Noir alcohol reinker onto the page and let it drip.  My colors were IB3, LG5, and LV2.  When that was partially dry I sprayed Calypso Teal Dylusions ink over the whole thing and blotted to blend a bit.

I also added some collaged bits of paper from Bo Bunny, sprayed some Dylusions Calypso Teal through a stencil, and then muted parts with more white gesso.

I used with the Bunny Girl digi stamp  from The Octopode Factory and blew her up a bit.  She and the Egg Plants (also TOF) are  colored with my species (colored listed below) then cut out.

Final touches on the page were washi tape and some doodling with Sharpie paint pens.

Spectrum Noir colors used for coloring:
IB3, IB2, IB1
LG5, LG4, CG3
GB5, GB4, CT4, CT2
GB10, GB8, EB5
LV3, LV2, LV1
FS9, FS4, FS2

Paper Craft Planet Sketch Challenge and NEWS!!

Good morning!  I have a card for this week's sketch challenge over at Paper Craft Planet that's a wee bit different for me.  I wanted to play with my stencils from The Crafter's Workshop and use the fun backgrounds that I've been creating in a card format.  And this sketch was perfect and  super fun because its a 4x9 card!

But, wait, you want to hear my news??  Guess who one of the two newest Supernovas is?  Yep, that's ME!!  I'll be joining the Design Team at Paper Craft Planet!  How totally cool is that??  I've been following various groups there for years and have a full on Gallery if you want to check it out.  I am beyond excited!  Thanks to Susanna Boyd for inviting me onboard and thanks to Pam Hornschu for telling me to apply!

So, on to the card for today...  I started with some pieces of Bristol board (really thick cardstock like you would find in an art journal).  On one piece I sprayed Funky Fuchsia and Crushed Grape Dylusions ink sprays through Echos and Layered Beads stencils (both from The Crafter's Workshop).  On top of this I stamped Life is Art sentiment, new from Stampendous, in Archival Black ink.

On the opposite panel I used Dirty Martini Dylusions ink spray with Vine Stencil (TCW).  I added some Black and white washi tape and Bo Bunny ribbon for the elements shown on the sketch and voila,  Its a finished stenciled long size card!  Super easy and fast.

OK, so that's it for me today :)  Having a great morning after lots of awesome crafty news this week!  I was also featured on The Crafter's Workshop blog this week!  Check it out!!  Plus there's happy mail on the way from Crafter's Companion!

A Blooming Spring

It may still be cold outside be we are ready for a blooming spring at Dreamweaver Stencils!  Come join us for this months challenge and show us your Spring, Easter, or St Patty's day creations and your name could be drawn to win a FREE stencil of your choosing!

I decided to take my card in a slightly different springy direction this morning by simply using some spring colors with this adorable new Open Owl Stencil.  He was stenciled with Pearlescent Embossing Paste and then sprinkled with Eye of the Tiger, Sapphire, and Glacier Lake Metallic FX Powders.  I then heated the paste to see the magic pop up (Molten Magic Technique).

My background papers are new from Bo Bunny, ribbon by May Arts, and Dream Stencil is from DWS stenciled in Walnut Stain distress ink.

Please be sure to visit my teammates' blogs this week and leave them some love, and we hope to see you play along with our challenge!

Skull Couture

Sunday was the monthly dylus-a-thon at Betty's store and I ended up being quite productive.  I was in a slump when I arrived due to kid issues, general stress, etc.  But as usual an afternoon spent journaling with the girls was just what the doctor ordered!

So I created this page from start to finish in no time that day.  I started by placing my masks for Man About Town and Walk in the Park (both new sets from Dylusions)  on my page slightly overlapped then I added some Funky Fuchsia,  Crushed Grapes, and After Midnight Dylusions ink sprays, added some stenciling with White Linen.

While the masks were still in place I stamped a border in white and some heats in black.

Next I removed the masks one at a time and stamped the images over the masked areas.  These were then colored with more Funky Fuchsia, Dirty Martini, and London Blue.

I was trying to figure out what it needed and then I remembered Dyan's skull stamps and went, DUH!  Even skeletons can wear couture :)

Hope you enjoy!  Later dudettes... Cyndi

Scrapbook Sunday with Stampendous

Good morning crafty peeps!  I haven't done Scrapbook Sunday in a while so I thought I'd share a layout today that I created for the Stampendous January CHA booth.

The middle strip was sprayed with Dylusions ink and then stamped with the new Wine Labels background stamp repeatedly.  And to perfectly coordinate with the background stamp our fabulous Fran created the new Grape Label stamp which I used as my main embellishment.  The grapes were colored with my Spectrum Noir markers (JG1, LG5, LG2, PL4, PL2, PL1) and then I fran'taged the edges with Aged Wine Embossing Enamel, Vintage Plum Embossing Tinsel,  and Amethyst Color Fragments.

The border was stamped with the border stamp in Jumbo Spring Bouquet.  Alphabet die cut from Lifestyle Crafts' Splendid Alphabet. #10 Kraft tag, distress ink, and Dylusions by Ranger.

I haven't played along in our new March challenge yet, but don't miss out...March is all about using the new Templates that come FREE with the newest Jumbo stamps!  You can see all the details HERE!  I will be playing soon once I finish my new catty samples this weekend :)

Peace out peeps.  Have a fantabulous Sunday!  -Cyndi
