Some Odd Girl July Sketch Challenge

Is it July already?  I'm not ready for the heat, but then again I'm ready to hurry up and get summer and the heat done with!  Just sayin.  Heat is so not my thing.  BUT I do love making summery cards and I just had to pull Beach Mae back out from Some Odd Girl to play along with this month's SOG sketch challenge.

I started out by printing Beach Mae on Neenah Solar white cs and then coloring her with my Spectrum Noir markers, pulling color inspiration from the paper line that I picked...Tropical Travelogue from Graphic 45.  All my papers were distressed with Tim Holtz inks (Scattered Straw, Antique Linen, and Tumbled Glass).  The wave and Honu (Sea Turtle) die cuts are by Memory Box.

Here's a closer shot of Mae and her adorable yellow polka-dot (not) bikini!  OK, so if I'm too old fr a bikini she doesn't get one either, right? Fair is fair.

And here's the sentiment panel stamped in Versafine Onyx ink with Feel Sand stamp by Stampendous!  The piece was cut using a Frame die from QuicKutz.  Here's my torn sand border above the waves :)

And if you're feeling crafty here's this months sketch challenge...you have all month!

Challenge List:
Some Odd Girl: sketch
Chocolate, Coffee, Cards: anything goes
Totally Papercrafts: use a digi
Paper Crafting Journey: Feeling Krafty
Make It Monday: linky party

Dreamweavery Glitter

&
Sadly its our last week of the Dreamweaver Stencils and Art Glitter collaboration, but that means you still have one more week to play along with our Double Glitter and/or Wedding Challenge at Dreamweaver Stencils!

I am so happy with the way my card turned out today...I finally feel like my mojo has come home!  It may have been the color inspiration from this My Minds Eye Indie Chic Ginger paper pad.  That led me to pull out the gray-ish glitter and dark orange from the Court Jester Pee Wee Kit.  I also used two of the paler colors from the Glitter Garden kit for the 2nd step of my Dbl Glitter (the backgrounds of the Bird Cage and bird).  My bird is actually cut out from the larger Love Birds stencil

Here's a closer look at all the yummy glitter:

I used Karen G's sketch for my layout today.  The delicate border is Tiffany border die from Cheery Lynn Designs.

Visit the Art Glitter blog and the Dream It Up! blog for fabulous inspiration from both talented design teams. We are encouraging all of you to play along with the challenge of creating withDreamweaver Stencils and Art Glitter*, preferably using the Double-Glitter Technique with a wedding theme. Just link your creation to the Mr. Linky on the Dream It Up! blog, or email pics to lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com, for an opportunity to win one of four fabulous glitter and stencil prize packages. One winner will be chosen each week. (US and Canada only, please).

Introducing Chef Ariel

Its preview week again at Simply B Stamps and we have the first of our Jude and the Rockers Just for Fun line to share with you today...meet Chef Ariel!  She reminds me of my youngest daughter Rachael who loves to bake!

This is also one of my first cards using the new Spectrum Noir alcohol markers from Crafter's Companion  so I thought I'd share with you the colors that I chose.  The speccies are very similar to copics but there are a few differences, mainly the price point, at only $2 per marker!

I will be sharing lots more about these markers in the months to come since I will be one of the DT members so be on the lookout!  But for now, back to my card!

Here's a closer look at Ariel.  After I colored her I cut her out and mounted her on some Nesting Ovals from QuicKutz for Lifestyle Crafts.  My papers are by Little Yellow Bicycle.  The border die is also from LSC, a new one called Petite Petals.

Be sure to check back all week for a new little Jude and the Rockers cutie preview from me and don't forget to stop over to the SBS blog and see what the rest of the DT has created all week!  We will be ending with our Blog Hop and prizes this Friday at noon PST!

Party Hat Kiddo

Good morning! I'm finally recouping from the week of fun in Florida with my hubby on his business conference for Texas Roadhouse.  It was great to spend time with all the NC Roadies!  BUT since Ive been gone I didn't create anything for todays Stampendous! Upcycle challenge.  Head over to the Stampendous! blog to play along!  You still have almost 2 weeks!

Here's this weeks list of DT playing along so go leave them so love!

I do however have a card to share with you that I created for the Stampendous! April catalog.  I used the new Party Hat Kiddo, coming soon to a store near you, one of 5 new Kiddos!  She was colored with copic markers then sprinkled with lots of  Multi UF crystal glitter!  I then cut her out with Nesting Scallop Circles from QuicKutz for Lifestyle Crafts.

Rock Out!!!

Its all about shapes this week at Inky Impressions!  We want to see any kind of a shaped card from you this week over at the Inky Impressions Challenge Blog :)

I used my brand new Nesting Ovals Dies from Lifestyle Crafts!  And since it was a bit not-wanting-to-stand-up, LOL, I turned it into an easel card!  The cute little mouse is Rock'n'Roll Donnie.  Isn't he a doll!!  I colored him to match my DD's new little hamster Otis :)  The papers are from Best Creation...lots of glitter and bling!

Here's a closeup of him, but its still hard to see the Glassy Glaze I added to his shades and nose.  I also added a touch of Spica Glitter pens to his guitar in Purple and silver.  The sentiment is from an older Stampendous! set thats now retired, but still floating around in some of the big box stores :)

We hope you'll join us this week!  I'm also entering this card into the following challenges:
Paperplay Challenges: Punches and Dies
Crazy Challenge: Men Only
Crafty Creations: Anything but a Square
Papertake Weekly: Creature Comforts

Thanks for coming by today!  Rock out!!  -Cyndi

Steampunk Halloween

Wow!  I have to say now that this line is simply fabulous!  I was a bit scared by the intricate details in these stamps, but once I started to color them I fell in love!!  Today is the first day of peeks for the new Steampunk Halloween line from Simply Betty Stamps.  There are 4 images being peeked today, and I have 2 to show you.

First up is Draco the Ghostly Gentleman. He's my absolute fav!  I kept thinking, where would I see a ghost?  New Orleans?  Paris!!  So I pulled out some Trip to Paris paper from 3 Bugs in a Rug (which just happened to have some lovely scroll patterns as well),  then also adding a touch of extra stamping on the bg paper using the Eiffel tower set from Stampendous!.  Its embossed with Stampendous! Chunky Black Embossing Enamel, then I also inked the edges with my Versamark pad and added more of the Chunky Black there as well.

Draco was colored with copics, then cut out with my new Oval Nested shapes from Lifestyle Crafts (formally QuicKutz).  I LOVE them because they are super skinny ovals, much more so than my spellbinders!  I added around Draco some collaged images also from the Eiffel Tower set in black and Aqua Mist ink (PTI).

My second card uses Bella the Vampiress.  She's so lovely you can't even tell she's a vampire, right?  Well, warning, those are always the dangerous ones!  For Bella I pulled out some brand new paper by Authentique that I picked up at the Southern Women's Show in Charlotte last week.  It was just screaming to be used with these Steampunks :)

I glimmer misted my flowers to match my papers (they started off peach...pretty but NOT a match!)  The circle was cut with a Spellbinders die then run through my Cuttlebug with the Tim Holtz Damask Folder by Sizzix.  The top corner of the text paper I stamped over with the flourish from Stampendous! Damask Chair.  All edges were distressed with Burnt Umber Palette ink.  I also used Karen G's sketch for this layout.

Hope you like my peek back into "history".  Be sure to head over to the Simply Betty Stamps blog to see more samples with these 2 images and the other 2.  AND be sure to leave comments for a chance to win one in digi form!!

Back to Skool with Simply Betty Stamps Challenge

**If you are here for the Inky Impressions Blog Hop click HERE***

Ready to head back to school and hit the books?  School girl Betty is ready!  She’s from the Simply Betty Stamps  Teen Scene Back to Skool Collection J

Our challenge for the scrap team this week is to create any project but a card for Back to School…a notebook, goodie bag, or in my case a mini-album.  I thought it would be fun to give my daughter an almost blank book to put some candid shots in of her and her friends during the first weeks of school.  (Which daughter you ask?  Whichever one reads my post gets it…bwahahaaaa)

For the construction of the mini book I pulled out the Santa’s Workshop LE dies from QuicKutz.  I used the Gingerbread size album and cut the cover (twice to reinforce it), pages, pocket, and some embellishments.  I also added some random punches, flowers, charms, clips, and ribbon.  The glitter border and accents are Stampendous! glitters (Mahogany, Ocean Spray, and Crystal multi)

I have a few peeks at the inside pages…there are many more waiting for my DD to fill in other bits and pieces and personalize it for herself.

Please be sure to join us this week at the Simply Betty Stamps challenge blog…there are always fun prizes to be had!  You don’t have to use a SBS image to participate, but we LOVE to see them, and the more participants the more PRIZES!!  Betty is always so generous!  (The Get Sketchy card challenge is still open til next Thursday as well)  And you have 2 weeks for today's challenge :)

Also, be sure to hop over to our Paper Craft Planet group to see a fabulous new stamp that will be FREE when we reach 500 followers!  It’ll be a limited time…so you have to be on the lookout and hurry!

Challenge List:
Pile It On: Girls Just wanna have fun
Scrapbook Sisters: anything goes

Thanks for popping in today!!  Hope you have a fabby weekend!!
