Festively Fall

We have a new challenge for October at Dreamweaver Stencils to welcome in the fall weather and holidays: Festively Fall!  You have all month to play along with us.  You may use any products to be eligible.  One winner will be chosen for best interpretation of the theme and one winner for best use of Dreamweaver products!  And the winners  get a stencil of their choosing!

And what better to celebrate fall than a black cat?  I used Retro Standing Cat and paste embossed him with Matte Black paste then added Stampendous Pearl Black Glitter  while that was still wet.  The Meow is from the Kitty Words stencil and was also embossed in black then I added Stampendous  Tigerlily Pearl Glitter to that.

And be sure to check out my teammate's inspiration today too:

Art Journal pages in my NEW Dylusions Creative Journal

Guess what arrived at my local Stamp Store last week?  The new Creative Journal from Dyan Reaveley for Ranger!  I didn't get a chance to play with it the first night but last Friday I spent the afternoon with Betty and Lynna playing in our new journals!

First I just have to tell you how wonderful the paper is in the journal...wonderful texture and weight, perfect for spraying and ghosting and adding layers of color.

I began by spritzing my page with water then sprayed on a generous amount of  Bubblegum Pink, Squeezed Orange and Pure Sunshine Dylusions ink sprays.  I then Used the Chequered Dots stencil on the edges and sprayed Crushed Grape through that.

I then used the Let it Snow Stencil and sprayed water through that for the ghosted snowflakes.  Then I went to town adding lots of stamping and doodling.  (All stamps used listed below)

All products can be found locally or by mail  in Betty's Scrapbook Room or order online through Dyan's store in the UK .  (all products listed below)

This is the facing page.  Lots more stamping and doodling.  I also added some snowflakes from the Let it Snow Stencil using Picket Fence Distress Stain by Tim Holtz.

After the images were stamped I went in with a Ranger water brush and picked up colors of the various Dylusions sprays and colored in parts of the images.

And of course, lots more doodling.  I used my Copic multi liner and Signo white gel pen.

Its Stampendous and May Arts week!

Its Collaboration time again at Stampendous and May Arts!  We have loved the collabs in the past and couldn't wait to do this again.  May Arts has the most beautiful yummy ribbon ever!  I was lucky enough to receive lots of fun textures and patterns and I chose Halloween of course, especially since today is October 1st!

I created a layout for today using a variety of Halloween stamps and ribbons.  My picture is of my youngest daughter and one of her friends when they did a bit of zombie makeup one day.

I started by spraying my background cardstock with Squeezed Orange, Pure Sunshine and Crushed Grape Dylusions ink sprays.  I then pulled out an od Tattered Angels stencil and sprayed Black Marble through that in random spots.

Along the edges of my page I stamped Tin Panel and embossed that with Aged Black Embossing Enamel.  I also added a portion of the Beware Gate in the bottom left also in Aged Black.

Next I cut some papers from the Chillingsworth Manor paper collection by Echo Park.  I edged one in Pewter Distress Stain from Tim Holtz.  The other I embossed the edge with Aged Black.  I also stamped Raven Background and embossed that with Clear Detail Black on a separate piece of cardstock.  I added Aged Black, Aged Spice Enamel and Trick or Treat Color Fragments to the edges using my Versamark pad and Heat gun.

My final touches were a few stickers from the EP paper pack and of course lots of fun ribbon!  I used a mesh black, large Orange and Black plaid, and satin black on black striped.  These were added with a touch of glue and then taped over to the back.

NOW I feel ready for a month of Halloween!  I hope you'll check back at the Stampendous blog each day for more inspiration and a list of the players for each day.  There are always fun prizes to be had!

Here's today's list of players:

Dreamweaver Thursday

This is the last week to play with the Getting Inky challenge at Dreamweaver Stencils then we are on to a new challenge!  Today I took Lee Kellogg's idea from last week which you can see HERE.  I am in love with the look!

I used Paintbox Red, Bubblegum Pink, and Fresh Lime Dylusions Ink Sprays on my background and then sprayed water through the LJ896 Flourish Stencil to get a ghosted effect.

After that was dry I spread Glossy Black Paste over the new LJ891 Heart Ornaments stencil.  I added Diamond Dust to the branches to mimic ice on the trees and tied some itty bitty green bows on the ornaments.

I hope you'll join us this week!  The winner gets to pick their own stencil this month!  Please be sure to check out the rest of the Inky fun from the DWS team:

Halloween Art Journal pages

I've been playing in my Art Journal again...this is a set of pages that I started a week or so ago and finally finished this morning.  I started by spraying my pages with water and then Squeezed Oranges, Lemon Zest and Crushed Grapes Dylusions ink sprays.

I did Dyan's ghosting technique with the Chequered Dots stencil and a water mist.  I then used the same stencil and added new Tim Holtz Metallic Distress Stain in Antique Bronze.

The letters on this page I drew myself mimicking Dyan's style :)  The spider, web and cat are from the Bits and Bats stamp set by Dyan Reaveley.  Also added some doodling with my favorite white gel pen from Signo.

Here's the kitty closer...and we all know I love anything feline!  I created a fence for him to sit on with a chevron stencil and Black Marble Dylusions ink spray.

This is the facing page.  Same colors and techniques on the background.

The trees are from the same Bits and Bats stamp set.  Stamped in Versafine Black and then colored with Crushed Grape Dylusions spray and a Ranger water pen.

The letters for this page were traced through the Ho Ho Holly and Let it Snow stencils then doodled in and colored with Squeezed Orange Dylusions and a water pen.

And finally the two pages together.  As a scrapbooker at heart I have a hard time not doing two-page spreads sometimes...and especially when it comes to my favorite time of year...Halloween!

Supplies:
Dylusions Rubber Stamps: Bits and Bats
Dylusions Stencils: Chequered Dots, Hoho Holly & Let It Snow
Dylusions Ink Sprays: Crushed Grape, Lemon Zest, Squeezed Orange & Black Marble
Tim Holtz Metallic Distress Stain

Jillibean Soup Sketch Challenge

There's a fabulous Scrapbook sketch this month at Jillibean Soup and I found the perfect photo to use!  This is a shot of Michael and his pals at Field Day this Spring...are they doing field day?  No, they're watching Call of Duty videos on my phone!

For my layout I printed all the papers from the Monster Stew Digi Paper Collection thin cut strips, added some ribbon scraps and some zig-zag stitching in black.  Easy peasy and it turned ut bright and fun!

My letters are die cut from QuicKutz Splendid alphabet.  (Star on the "i" was cut from the JB paper)

Here's a closeup of some of the stitching and I added a journal half-circle that I die cut.

For a few extra embellishments I cut a star and a monster out of pieces of the pattern paper...

And here's the sketch if you want to play along too:

OK, that's it for this afternoon, I'm off to pick up my cute little monster at school :)

Skipping Stones Design Sketch #147

Its sketch time again at Skipping Stones Design and this week we are also featuring the sets Grunge  and Grunge2.   We hope you'll play along with us this week ;)  Here's the sketch:

I used Grunge to create a wood panel on Kraft cardstock using Sepia Versafine ink.  I kept the card CAS to try to keep it masculine (two things very hard for me!)  My pp are from We R Memory Keepers.  Tough Guy sentiment is also from the Grunge set.

Be sure to hop over and visit my teammates blogs and leave them some love too :)

Some Odd Girl Facebook Fun Day Challenge

I cant believe I didn't get to hang out all day yesterday for the Some Odd Girl Facebook Fun Day.  Boo!  I DID however get one of the challenges done today...to make a gatefold card.  The tutorial can be found HERE.

I used the new Cowgirl Mae digi stamp for my card and paired her with some digi papers that I printed from Jillibean Soup called Chicken Noodle Soup.  This is the outside of the card.

Here's a closeup of Mae on the inside, all colored with my Speccies.  Isn't she a hoot rounding up her piggies?  Bwahaha...couldn't resist!

A closeup of the sentiment (from The Cat's Pajamas) and the lasso I created:

And here's a shot of the inside of the card:

Thanks for moseying on over today, hope you had a great weekend!
