Scrappy Monday: Snow Day

What do you do when you have a sick child at home and lots of snow on the ground? Scrapbook LAST year's snow pictures! Well, actually I have been completing some half finished layouts and this was one I found that I never shared with you guys.

The pic is of Rachael and Michael from last winter ago but I scrapped it last summer some time or another. I just LOVE the way it turned out! The tag is hung on some sheer Bazzill dotted ribbon that runs the length of the page and overlaps the snowflake border. Notice that I HAND cut around all those persnickety flakes!

Here's another closeup of the cut out flakes that also shows some felt snowflakes that were treated with some Icicle Stickles.

The title is created on more of the same tags (I think they were from Making Memories but the packaging was long gone) The letters were cut out from a border strip on the pattern paper. All papers are by Fancy Pants. The rub on is a Bohemia pack by My Mind's Eye, adhered directly to the photograph.

More of the snowflakes (these are from my old SU! stash). They were attached with SEI Brads from the Dill Blossom collection. You can also see the corners of the pattern paper I stamped with a Bo Bunny flourish stamp in teal ink. Lastly I added some stickles around some of the flourishes.

OK thats it for this one. Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you had a great Monday :) My kids are out of school today so it has been a nice lazy day, but activites are still on for tonight. Sigh.

Challenge Card

Here's a fun card that I created just for some challenges. This is one of the FREE images that I got from By LORI Designs when I was one of the winners of her contest in November! This image is Nellie, one of the new Spoonfuls. Isn't she just a doll?!!

{BTW, Lori is having a Design Team call for the byLORIdesigns Challenge Blog. Head over and enter your name if you LOVE these adorable whimsical children like I do!!! }

Of course when I saw this weeks challenge at The Pink Elephant Challenge (TPE#91) I knew I had to play...one of MY favorite color combos...pink, orange, and aqua!! My pink is a bit darker than what I originally intended, but I pulled out this fun Sophie paper from Bo Bunny and used the colors as my inspiration piece. Had to add lots more dots to match the Double Dot card stock and the dots on Nellie's dress and the dots on the multi-colored paper!

Even my bow is polka-dotted Bo Bunny ribbon! My full supply list is below, as is the list of challenges that this card is entered into :)

Dino-Mite Release Day!

Its a Dino-mite Day at Pixie Dust Studio! The Dino-mite Collection has got to be one of the cutest ones Kathy has ever drawn! (Do I say say that every time??) I have a card for you today using 2 of the new images, meet Paris the Cave Girl and Princess Dino.

I colored them with some nice warm earthy tones and pulled out this fun Sassafras Lass paper to work with. The little sentiment is by CC Designs and I stamped it vertically over in the corner :) Paris comes with the cute little pet Dino (hehe)

Here's a closeup of her face. I didn't glitter her at all, I figured they probably didn't have any bling and sparkles in the Pre Historic Days. I did however just HAVE to paint her toenails!! (AND her pet Dino's too)

Here's a closeup of Princess Dino. I am just in love with these images and the colors with them, aaackk!!

Your Love is Dino-Mite!

Its time for this weeks Pixie Dust Studio Challenge, and I have a Sneakie Peek for you! This weeks challenge is "Let's Play Tag" and you can find the details and more eye candy from the rest of the DT at the Pixie Dust Studio Challenge Blog.

For my card I used the image "Your Love is Dinomite" , part of the Dino-Mite Collection coming out on January 14th! This little bear is soooo sweet he was just calling my name to come color him! I use papers from American Crafts for my color inspiration then used my Copics to color him.

Here's a closeup of Wink and also a detailed shot of the Jumbo Ric Rac border (MFT) that I embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder.

Wink was cut with Spellbinders Labels 11, my favorite ever! I then punched a hole at the top and wound some ribbon through, tied with Baker's Twine and turned it into a tag ;)

And of course my favorite part is the Pom Poms! I have had these in my stash for like FOREVER and am just now using them! They are so fun! The heart is also embossed with the same Cuttlebug folder, and run through with a Heart Nestabilties.

So, I hope you will join us this week for the Tag Challenge! And don't forget to come back tomorrow for more Dino-Mite eye candy on release day for Pixie Dust Studio! Here's a pic of all the Copics I used for this little baby :)

You and Me

How about a bit of love tonight? I need it. My little guy has been sick for 3 days. My kids are snowed in and bored. I am going totally stir crazy. I escaped for coffee, and I drove past the first 2 Starbucks this afternoon just to get out of the house for a bit longer!

I have for a you a card I made with a couple of brand new Stampendous! stamps that were just added to the website a couple of weeks back! The focal image is Cling Block Art Love . Who doesn't love Changito?? I colored him to match this old My Mind's Eye paper from my stash. Down to the last few bits of it! The sentiment is also new... Cling You and Me from Stampendous!

I distressed around some of the edges to match the effect of the papers. Circles were cut with Spellbinders Nestabilties, ribbon from my stash. Distresser is by Tonic...markers by copic and card stock from Bo Bunny.

I am off now to snuggle in with my baby and hubby in bed and watch TV. We have been re-watching the whole Battlestar Galactica series this month. (The new one from Sci Fi channel, not the 80s one) Such an excellent show, nothing else quite like it. Sigh.

Have a great night! And thanks for stopping in :)

Got Coffee?

Starbuck's, I hear you calling my name!! Since giving up soda a few months back, I have become a complete coffee-a-holic. Not that I didn't already love it, but now its a total addiction. MUST have caffeine. So I just fell in love with this cute Little Cup from InStyle Stamps.

I used this months InStyle Stamps Sketch for my layout and I think it turned out really cool! Since the image had all the dots for the steam as part of the image, when I cut it down I still wanted to include the dots. So, I photocopied the cup. With the 2nd image I cut it into a partial circle with a circle Nestabilties. After I matted that onto a scalloped circle I adhered those to my background pink piece. I laid the cut out leftover of the steam back over where it was then punched through both layers with my paper piercing tool and a mat. After the piercing was done I removed the scrap and voila! Matched up steam holes!!

Here's the sketch if you'd like to join us this month. The link to the post with all the rules is HERE.

And below you can see the closeup of the steam and the pierced holes. The first copy of the cup I colored to match the Bo Bunny paper with my Copic markers, and then I went back with my Copic blender pen using the chisel end and created hatch marks to mimic the texture on the pattern paper. I cut out the cup and adhered it over the background one.

I added a bit of a tag to the top corner of the card by cutting yet another set of circle/scalloped circles with my nestabilites . These are attached at the top and then I glue dotted the ribbon to the top as a faux tag. Finally I added dots around the tag and the border of the card to ground it a bit.

  • Full supply list:
  • Stamps: Small cup digi (InStyle Stamps); sentiment (Treehouse Stamps)
  • Paper: pp Bo Bunny; Berrylicious & Raven (Bazzill); white (Neenah)
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Accessories: Large Standard and Large Scalloped Circle Nestabilties (Spellbinders); Ribbon (Michael's); Papeeer piercer (Lasting Impressions); Piercing Mat (Bazzill); Copic markers R30, R35, R37, R39, RV21, RV23, YG11, G21, and black multiiner (Imagination International)
Thanks for stopping by my corner of the cyber-sphere! Have a great week :)

Stampendous! Blog Hop!!

Welcome to Stampendous! Rubber Stamps’ first official Blog Hop! We are thrilled to show you some really wonderful projects from BOTH the October 2010 Valentine, Easter, Spring Catalog (just uploaded to our website for your purchasing pleasure) and the January 2011 Catalog premiering at CHA at the end of this month (soon to be available in your local store for your wish list making pleasure). We’re so excited you can join us!

There will be four prizes drawn at random from the eligible hoppers... We’ll give away two of the Busy Bunnies set from the October Catalog and two flower sets from the January Catalog! All blog hoppers who comment on all the blogs will receive an email with a really cute bonus project and directions!!

SO, if you just ended up here because you LOVE me, head back and start at the Stampendous blog! If you arrived here from the blog of the fabulously fun and fantastically talented Rachel aka Gingerbread Gal you are right on track!

First I have for you a scrapbook page from the October catalog featuring a new gorgeous stamp called Heart Hugs. I stamped the image multiple times on black card stock with Versamark ink and then embossed the images with Pomegranate Embossing Powder.

I cut out one of the images as a whole for my title on my page. The rest of the hearts I cut apart for page embellishments. I accented these with a bit of bling...some Dot Sparklers Class-a-Peel stickers in black.

I also punched a border of black card stock with an EK Success border punch then colored the deckled edge with a Versamarker and embossed that with the same Pomegranate Embossing Powder.

Its finished off with some pattern paper (from KI Memories) and a lovely picture of my youngest daughter Rachael.

Next I have for you a card that I sent in for the BRAND new catalog that will be hitting local stamp stores in just a couple of weeks! The new sets will be released at CHA at the end of January. But I have a peek-a-loo for you of one of my new favorite Stampendous! sets...Agapanthus Thank You. (Please don't ask me to pronounce that for you...I so don't have a green thumb OR knowledge of flowers...just know when I like 'em!)

I love, love, love the way this card turned out! For the main panel I stamped the chunkiest image in the set (this is a Perfectly Clear set with multiple images and sentiments) in Versamark ink onto Glossy card stock then embossed it with White Embossing Powder. After that I used a Ranger Alcohol Ink blending tool and some Copic reinkers to create the background.

That panel and the mats behind it were cut out with Oval Nestabilties from Spellbinders. The main background is stamped with Black Memento ink and Crushed Olive Distress Ink with more pieces from this set. The border was created with a Fiskars border punch. The ribbon was purchased from Michael's.

OK, from here you get to head to the Uber talented Kimberly of For the Love of Paper! If you got lost along the way here's the hopping order:

Pretty in Pink

Lori Boyd of by LORI designs has opened a challenge blog this week! How fun! I just love Lori's images, and have been collecting them since they started as Lollipops through Stamping Bella! Now Lori is strictly going to her own store with her Lollipops, Puddle Jumpers, and more. If you've never been by..go check it out!

So this card I made for this weeks FIRST challenge! A color challenge :) I had the PERFECT paper for this....and it just happens to be available for sale in my Boutique! The image I chose is Puddle Jumper Rylee...she is one of 2 images that I won from Lori last month when I won a contest!! If you peek through her store, 2 of the samples there are my designs! Squeel!!

OK, Soooo since Rylee has lots of Polka dots I kept with the polka dotty theme and used 2 different embossing folders. The first is Swiss Dots on the pale pink layer, and the second is Big dots from Quickutz on the Green layer. AND if that wasn't enough I used a piece of Bo Bunny paper for my oval with more circles! The layout for the card is from this weeks Friday Sketchers blog.

And of course no card is complete without glitter! I added some Stampendous! Rose glitter to her bows and Stampendous! black glitter to her buttons. And I finally got to play with my Bazzill black pom poms...aren't they adorable?!!

OK, on to my supply list below and the list of challenges :) Thanks for stopping by my corner of the world!
