Rock & Roll

Have you stopped over to the Simply Betty Stamps Challenge blog this week? If so then you have noticed that the challenges are back up and running in full swing! Last week’s challenge from our card team was to create something for a child. And this week kicks off the Scrap Team challenges! Woo Hoo!

Our first challenge is just that, a challenge! We want to see an explosion album or an album in a box…wow! But, you know you can do it! If you will simply head to Splitcoast Stampers and head to Resources, then search for “album” you will be amazed at all the tutorials for cool mini album projects! Above is what mine looks like when you start to explode or unsquash it. Below is the whole inside of the album when its open and spread out.

I chose to do what is called a squash book, but I think its more of an explosion album, LOL. I knew I wanted to use these cute pics to go with the Jude and the Rockers stamps. My youngest daughter, her BFF, and I went to Carolina Rebellion a couple of month back. Bands included saving Abel, Hinder, Avenged Sevenfold, Seether, and more. It was a total blast!

We would love if you join in on our challenge! Hop over to the SBS Challenge blog and link up a fun explosion book, album in a box, or the like! Here's a closeup of Lily on the front of my book. I added some Stampendous! Clear glitter to her hair and outfit, and used my black Glaze pen on her jewelry.

I started with 2 plain 4 x 4 chipboard coasters and covered them with pattern paper. (I used Yes glue to hold it together). Next I inked all the edges with black ink. On the background of the cover I used a piece of cool paper from DCWV, sprayed the hole thing with Goosebumps, then rubbed on some distress ink once that was dry. Finally I added some Stampendous! Wild Plum embossing powder to some of the edges by rubbing it on the edge of my Versamark pad.

Total supplies used are listed below. Here's one more shot of the inside back section, kind of a closeup showing off Brittany, isn't she awesome!

  • Supplies:
  • Stamps: Brittany & Lily (Simply Betty Stamps)
  • Paper: Creative Imaginations; DCWV; Bazzill
  • Ink: Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass distress ink (Ranger); Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (Tsukineko)
  • Accessories: Goosebumps spray (Tsukineko); Wild Plum Embossing Powder & Crystal Multi Glitter (Stampendous!); sponge dauber; Old King Cole rub-ons (Piggy Tales); July 4th, Graduation Class-a-peel stickers (Stampendous!); ribbon (Michael’s)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Fab 'n' Funky Challenge

Its time to rock out with this week's Fab ‘n’ Funky challenge, and that means its all about Purple! We want to see some purple on your creation! I know some people struggle with it, but I LOVE purple.

For my creation this week I used Ali from the new Jude and the Rockers line at Simply Betty Stamps. Isn’t she just freakin’ awesome?! From her funky tights to her shiny nose piercing, to her huge bouncy pigtails!

I used this weeks CPS sketch since Simply Betty Stamps is sponsoring the challenge!

Here's another closeup:

  • Supplies:
  • Stamps: Ali (Simply Betty Stamps); Rock on (Stampendous!)
  • Paper: Summer Days (Echo Park); Bazzill; Neenah
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
  • Accessories: Bazzill on the edge decorative strips; Black Glaze pen (Sakura); Skull sticker ($1 bin); bottle cap (Michael’s); circle punch (EK)
Be sure to join us over for the Purple haze of fun at Fab 'n' Funky this week! You have until next Tuesday evening to link up! Thanks for stopping in, your visits and your comments are so welcome!

Its a Krafty Challenge

Today our inspiration over at the Inky Impressions Challenge blog is distressing. And when I think of distressing I think Kraft paper and Tim Holtz. I pulled the Kraft paper straight out since I wanted to try coloring on the Kraft with my copics. I’ve done this a bit, but not a ton.

Then I also knew that I wanted to use the fun paper by Creative Imaginations with a more rustic look.. Just a bunch of simple layers for a very central focal point and a small sentiment. All of my layers were distressed with an edging tool like the Tonic one, and I even did a bit of paper ripping on the one side, gasp! So not me!

I love the effect of all the little white dots around the edges on the kraft cs. For that I used a Sharpie Poster Paint pen that I got from Suzanne Dean’s class. I thought I loved my Signo uniball pen, but this baby is waaay better!

You can see I am still on the Patriotic color kick since my family is in DC all week. We should have some fabulous photos to scrap when we get back! Lastly I added a cute little heart charm pair, also available at Inky Impressions Store.

Hope you like Miss Lily! We would love to see what you can do with our distressing challenge! You have the next fortnight to get hoppin! Thanks so much for visiting with me today!

by LORi Designs Spotlight on Watermelon Smile

Sweet, sweet Summer Time and it is HOT! My favorite way to enjoy a hot afternoon is with a nice cool slice of yummy watermelon. My absolute favorite fruit of all time!

This little cutie is Watermelon Smile, one of the newest Lollipops from by LORi Designs.

I colored her to match this cute watermelon paper from Little Yellow Bicycle…it was brand spankin’ new at my LSS and I couldn’t resist. I kept my card pretty simple since I had a lot of projects to complete before heading out of town this week. The sentiment is a piece cut from the same piece of patterned paper.

Did you get to check out our awesome Summer blog Hop the other day? If not, then all the cards are also now over on the BLD blog AND, Be sure to check out even more cute samples from the by LORi Designs DT today!

  • Supplies:
  • Paper: Little Yellow Bicycle, Bazzill, Neenah
  • Stamps: Watermelon Smile (by LORi Designs)
  • Accessories: standard & oval Nesties (Spellbinders); EK Success border punch; Turquoise, Red, and Green glaze pens (Sakura); ribbon

Its Blog Hop time at by LORi Designs! If you arrived here from the fabulously talented Loretta then you are right on track! If not, then head over to the terrific Tracy's blog for the start of this Hot Summer Hop!

For my card today I used Firecracker Finn, one of the fabulously adorable Lollipops available in the Lollipop store right now!! I added a top hat to Finn by cutting a piece of Best Creation patterned paper and adhering him on top of Finn’s head.

This is my first shot at a Side step card…not too hard if you can score straight, LOL! Here’s another view at it:

And here’s a close up of Finn. The rest of my papers are all from Best Creations’ new Patriotic line as well except for the turquoise print by LYB. The color inspiration came from BLD teammate Arielle’s ColourQ Challenge last week…I loved the Red, white, and Blue with the turquoise!

My little star on the ribbon bundle is another cut out from the BC paper, as are the cute pennants on the top panel. Anywhere that I didn’t have the pre-glittered and embossed effect I added some Stampendous! Clear Multi glitter with a Glaze pen to mimic the effect!

OH, and, what fun would a New Release Hop be without some prizes?? There will be 2 $5 Gift Certificates given away to 2 randomly drawn hoppers. You must leave a comment at each blog for a chance to win!

Here's the whole little bundle of Summer cuties:

Now, its time to head over to see the total awesomeness that Arielle has created for you!! Thanks for hopping by to see me today!!
