Skipping Stones Design Farewell Blog Hop

Well, you've probably heard by now that our beloved  Skipping Stones Design is temporarily closing down so that Heather can pursue grad school and have more mom time.  BUT did you know that sets will still be available in the store while supplies last?

ALSO all of January is still included on the PMS Sale.  See THIS POST for all the details.

So today the DT...current and some of our retired ladies...is having a farewell Blog Hop!  If you hopped here from Amy's blog then you are right on track.  If not start back at the SSD blog to start from the beginning.

For my card today I used one of my favorite ever SSD sets: Birthday Purses.  I colored my purse with my Speccies and then added some fun paper and embellishments from the newest Little Yellow Bicycle line Just Because.

Thats it from me today, nice and short!  I just want to say a huge thank you to Heather for having me on her team for the last year.  You have been incredibly generous with us and I have truly loved working with your images!

OK, so from here hop on over to Tesa's blog!

I had no idea where there journal page was headed when I started it, I just new that I wanted to use turquoises and browns.  But I love where it ended up...thus the start of my journaling on the page, "let your imagination travel".

Here's a closer look at the boot (which is actually part of the whole stamp that also includes the "click your heels" phrase.  I just cut it apart.)

These Boots were made for walking...

One of my favorite projects that I created for the January 2013 Stampendous catalog was this card with the new Boots Kiddo.  I mean I love all the kiddos from the last year but this little baby has to be my favorite little sassy girl!

The background was stamped repeatedly with Scrolled Blossoms in Victorian Velvet ink.  Then I swiped my Boss Gloss (embossing ink in a dauber!) over the middle and added Shabby White Embossing Enamel, Burgundy and Lavender Color Fragments and Lavender Micro Glitter to that and heat set...instant bling!

My sentiment is from French Flower Cart set and the ribbon is from my stash.

Have you checked out more of the DT's peeks this week?  Head to the Stampendous blog to see who is is peeking this week :)

Dreamweaver Thursday

Have you checked out this months challenge at Dreamweaver Stencils yet?  Our theme this month is "A Fresh Start".  A tree is the perfect example of having a fresh start, every year in fact.  It sheds the old and then brings in the new.

Today I am sharing a canvas I made for the DWS booth at CHA.  This was something a bit different for me but I wanted to try my stainless stencils with mixed media.

I began by spraying my canvas with inks in greens and turquoise and then let that dry.  Then I layered  the Large Flourish stencil in the top corners and sprayed more turquoise ink through.

Next I stamped the Music score background from Stampendous in random spots on the canvas using Archival black ink from Ranger.

I paste embossed the new Leafless Tree Stencil in Glossy White paste in the center of the canvas and let that dry.  I still wanted more depth to my colors so I used the Leaf Green and Turquoise paintstiks and rubbed some color around the edges then blended that in with my finger.

I also went back with a touch of the Glossy White paste and dabbed that around the edges.

Its hard to see from these photos but I think it turned out pretty cool IRL!

I hope you'll join us for this months challenge...you still have 2 more weeks!  Plus be sure to hop over and check out what the rest of the team is up to this week!

Playtime at Crafters Workshop booth

Soooo, I never really did a CHA recap.  I had a blast seeing some old friends and of course meeting new ones.  The Stampendous DT had an awesome dinner and playtime at the Stampendous office one night.  And the Dreamweaver Stencils DT had a fabby Mexican dinner and drinks out one night.

I got to meet all the peeps from Crafters Companion UK and US :)  I took an incredibly inspiring class with Dyan Reavely the day after CHA (which I will share that project later)

AND I was able to explore lots of the booths that I wanted to see.  I seemed to gravitate towards the mixed media this year...Crafters Workshop stencils, Splash of Color (the newly redesigned Creative Imaginations and now US distributor of Viva Decor), Faber Castell, Ranger, Tsulineko, etc etc.

My favorite part was that the Crafters Workshop booth had a Playtime table every day with different designers.  I got to play with Ronda Palazzari, Natalie Karbach, Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, and Dina Wakely.  Each designer had tags available for us to work on but I just happened to bring along my art journal, so BONUS for me!  Here are the 2 pages that I did while hanging out with Dina Wakely.

These have got to be 2 of my all time pages I've ever created!  I worked with new Dylusions spray ink colors, Liquitex paints, a new fun paste from Viva Decor, and of course new Crafters Workshop stencils!

Too fun!  Thanks ladies for all the fabulous inspiration last week!

Sneak Peek week from Stampendous!

I am back from CHA...what an exhausting week that was!  AND I thought I was having internet issues being OOT because it would work for a minute then not at all.  Weeeall, now that I'm back home it doesn't want to work AT ALL so I am waiting for my 19 year old to come do his magic!  In the meantime I've transfered a few pics to my DD's mac so I can blog some :)

I wanted to remind you about theJanuary Kiddos challenge from Stampendous... AND we are finally allowed to show you the creations we made for the Winter 2013 Stampendous catalog!  Be sure to check by the Stampendous blog all week to find out who's peeking new stuff!

This is the adorable new Fireman Kiddo who should be available SOON in your local stores!  If you don't know where to go just click on the link to find a retailer near you!

I've paired him with some older K &co fireman paper and Jolee's sticker plus a couple of dies.  He was colored with my speccies :)

A Star is Born

Good morning!  I am finally on a plane back home from CHA.  It was fun but exhausting as always.  So today's post is pre-scheduled weekly Dreamweaver Stencil challenge.  This months challenge is New Beginnings.

One of the newest stencils released this week is the adorable little A Star is born sentiment.  It goes perfectly with the Star Background stencil and I immediately thought baby!

I traced one of the stars from the background and then cut it out.  For the sentiment I sponged Versamark ink through the stencil and then added White Embossing Powder and heated.

I hope you wil play along with us this month!  And please visit my fallow teammates' blogs:

Skipping Stones Farwell

Greetings from CHA!  I am hangin' with my peeps this week so I thought the sentiment on this card was perfect!  The sentiment and cute chicks are part of the set Chick Chat from Skipping Stones Design...one of my favorite SSD sets!

Its with a sad heart that I say farewell today to SSD.  Heather is taking some time off from her company for more family time.  Be sure though to check in the store and stock up on your favorite sets before they are temporarily retired!

New Beginnings with New Stencils

Greetings from sunny California!  Lea and I should have arrived in Anaheim last night and this post (along with others this week) is pre-scheduled :)  Its Thursday and time for another round of this month's Dreamweaver Stencils challenge: New Beginnings!

What says new beginnings more than a wedding?  This new Bride Stencil is perfect for Wedding, shower, or thank you cards.   I chose to emboss the stencil with Pearlescent Embossing Paste.  After that was dry I placed the clean stencil back over the image and then added Versamark ink with a large sponge dauber.    I removed the stencil and then rubbed on Metallic FX powders in Moonstone and Pink Poppy.

The card was completed with a new sentiment from Stampendous (available soon) and a ribbon knot through a pin from Webster's pages.  Papers are from Little Yellow Bicycle.

I hope you'll join our challenge this month!  And be sure to visit the team's blogs today for more inspiration!

Happy Birthday Lynell!

Its Thursday and time for a new challenge at Dreamweaver Stencils, but its also a Birthday Celebration for Lynell today!  Happy birthday sweet lady!  Thanks for all that you've done for us and I can't wait to see you next week for a proper birthday hug!

So my card today is not only a birthday card for one very awesome chick, but its also for our new January challenge: "A Fresh Start".  And flowers always say fresh and are also the traditional first sign of spring...so perfect combo of themes :)

I used the Daisy Background stencil with white glossy paste over a slightly patterned background paper.  I just loved the boho chic feel of this Basic Grey line and it was just calling for me to use it this week :)  My centers were colored with True Black Spectrum Noir marker.

And a small striped border at the bottom of the card  is the home for the sentiment from the Birthday Words stencil.

So..be sure to head to the Dreamweaver Blog and wish Lynell, the owner, our fearless leader and our fabulous friend a Happy Birthday!  Then drop by the DT's blogs and leave them all some love :)

I hope your New Year has started out amazingly!  Thanks for coming by and I truly appreciate all you comments :)
