Stenciling Tim Holtz Style

Welcome to our first post this month in the Dreamweaver Stencils and Ranger Ink  Collaboration!  We will be featuring the Dreamweaver stencils and Ranger Distress Embossing Powder for the next 4 weeks each Thursday!

I created a large tag for you today in Tim Holtz style!  I began by inking my #10 Manilla tag with Tim Holtz Distress ink in Dried Marigold, Dusty Concord, and Peeled Paint using my Ink Blending Tool.  Then I placed my Mosaic Swirls stencil stencil over the tag and applied Antiqued Bronze Distress Stain.

Next I stamped the maple leaf from Tim Holtz Autumn Collection repeatedly in Archival Black ink.

For my leaves I inked some scraps of Manilla cardstock in the same distress inks as above.  I used the same Mosaic Swirls Stencil but this time I applied Embossing ink with a large sponge dauber then added Vintage Photo Distress Embossing Powder and heated.

I then die cut 3 maple leaves from this piece and went back in with more of the distress ink to darken the leaves.  I love the way the distress EP feels so grungy like sandpaper!

I needed something to place behind my leaves so I die cut the Tim Holtz Alterations Hanging Sign from a piece of Tim Holtz Ideology Grunge paper and then embossed that with Scattered Straw Distress EP.  This gave me a lighter foundation to adhere my leaves to.  I also added a bit of Purple Tinsel Twine and an "m" for maple charm from the Tim Holtz Findings Halloween Muse Tokens.

My final touches were to sprinkle some Scattered Straw Distress EP onto my tag randomly and heat from underneath to bring out the paler yellow color of my mat.  I also used my blending tool to add some Barn Door  Distress ink to parts of the tag and around the edges and also some Archival Black to the edges.

This was such a fun project to create and I got to play with so many of my favorite Ranger products including some that were new to me!

I hope you'll visit my teammate's blogs and leave them all some love!  PLUS, there are prizes to be had this month!  AND finally, don't forget that you still have 2 weeks to enter the Fall challenge at DWS.

And here's the Fall prize!
