Shaping Up with Stampendous!

Its Saturday morning and time for another week of this month's Shaped Card challenge at Stampendous!  Today I chose to use a Frame diecut as my shaped card base.  I used Nesting Frames 3 from QuicKutz for Lifestyle Crafts as my base, scoring and folding my cardstock square in half before running it through the Epic machine.  You want to make sure you position your die so that just a touch of the frame on the outside of the folded edge before cutting.

My focal image is Lion Baby, colored with copic markers to coordinate with new Little Darlings collection from Graphic 45.  My color choices are based on this weeks Split Coast Stampers color challenge #365 "A Very Wild Bride".  I cut my lion and his little teddy out with Nesting Circle dies from QuicKutz along with a mat of green polka dot paper in a slightly larger size circle.  I LOVE this set of Nesting dies because you get 21 dies for only $25 so all the circles are just 1/8" off from each other!  LOTS of choices!

Here's my little lion up close.  Isn't he just precious?  Perfect for any type of baby card!  For my sentiment I chose Bebe, also from Stampendous!  It was stamped in Versamark ink and embossing in Aged Taupe Embossing Enamel.

Simply B Stamps Burton Chibis Blog Hop

Dreamweaver Stencils March Challenge

Still keeping it {Spring} Clean and Simple with Dreamweaver Stencils this week!  Today I am sharing 3 of the 4 cards for my Beginning Paste class next week.  (See the Classes page at the top of my blog) All are pretty CAS so I thought I'd share them all :)

First up is my fav for this class. using Birdcage stencil and SIlver embossing paste.  The sentiment is from an older retired trio that one of my stores still has in stock.  This card will show you how to power paste several cards at once without cleaning in between!

Isn't that cage just gorgeous in silver?  My papers are from Basic Grey's Sweet Threads collection and the frame is cut with new Nesting Oval Doily from QuicKutz for Lifestyle Crafts.

Next is a card using my favorite kitty...Retro Sitting Cat and also Kitty words, 2 new stencils from the January release at Dreamweaver.  I used Matte black embossing paste and Back glitter from Stampendous! Papers feature new Konichiwa line from Basic Grey.

Meow!

And lastly for today is my mushroom card, using new Mushroom stencil, white glossy paste, and alcohol inks.  Dreamweaver carries a wonderful line of Alcohol inks, but my stores asked me to use Copic refills for the class instead.  Ink is painted onto dried paste with precision tip Q-tips.

Papers are more Sweet Threads from Basic Grey, and sentiment is from Agapanthus by Stampendous!

Simply B Stamps Presents more Burtons...

 Its Burton time again!  How could we have Beetlejuice without Lydia? I always picture her when we first meet her as one of the original Goth girls.  And you gotta love her in the red wedding dress!  My oldest son used to bring up "Day-O" on you-tube, and I had to smile because I had the whole Harry Belefonte record at one point in college.

SO here is Lydia from the new Simply B Stamps Burton Chibis 2 series in a bit of lavender to pick up the colors in this We R Memory Keepers Halloween paper.  She looks so 60's here I love it!  The sentiment is from the same paper line and my layout is based on this weeks Sketch Saturdays sketch challenge.

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!

 I get to share one of my favorite cards ever with you today!  Meet Beetlejuice from the Simply B Stamps Burton Chibis 2 Collection!  OMG!  He is so awesome!  I loved the movie and really need to watch it again, its been years.  This was Michael Keaton at his best!

So for my card today I colored Beetlejuice first in his basic suit from the movie.  Then I went through my Halloween paper stash to find something to match.  I found this fun monster paper by Doodlebug and the eyeballs are just perfect!  The tag behind him was stamped and embossed with Beware Gate from Stampendous!

Here he is in all his glory!  Gotta love the green hair :)  And below you can see where I printed my own sentiment on the computer then cut it out with a Nesting Circle die.  (If you haven't seen the movie, GASP! then the reason his name is there 3 times is because that is how you call him from the grave!)

Today is day 3 of the Burton Chibis 2 previews from Simply B Stamps and I have my favorite song in my head as I type about Mrs Lovett and Sweeney Todd!  (See video clip below for full lyrics!)  My card today features both characters...they are so perfectly Johnny Depp and Helelna Bonham Carter, though I must admit I really like Patti Lapone's version from Broadway (also in a video clip for your perusal!)

I used Basic Grey Indie Bloom papers for my card and dies from Lifestyle Crafts (Nesting Circles and Edge It kit)  Ribbon is from my stash.

Scrappy Chick (Monday) Sunday Sketch Challenge

I'm laying a bit of catch up today!  I spent the weekend in DC with Rachael and Michael for the "Battle at the Capital" Cheer Competition.  The girls were fabulous!  We didn't have much time for sight seeing, but we did get to the National Museum of Air and Space and the National Museum of Natural History for a bit yesterday.  While I was gone I left Taylor home, recouping from Mono...I thought...with her brother Perry. But she got worse over the weekend. Its really taking its toll on her, poor baby.

So, anyway I ma a day late with my biweekly sketch challenge, but since I'm the boss thats ok, right?  So I have a new sketch for you today to last the next two weeks and I hope you will play along!  

Today's card for my sketch is one of the cards from my Dreamweaver Stencil basics class.  The whole class was on dry embossing and different ways to jazz that up.  For this card I left the LL017 Cameo Stencil in place after dry embossing then I stippled Gold Galaxy Versafine ink around the oval border.  I removed the stencil then heated this part.

Next I replaced the stencil and then applied Versamark ink to the lady portion only using a large finger dauber.  Remove stencil once again then add Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel from Stampendous!  Remove any excess powder that stuck to frame portion with a dry brush and then heat.

The sentiment is from LG691 Thank You, dry embossed and stenciled with more Gold Galaxy ink.  Ppaers are from Bo Bunny, Crochet ribbon is by May Arts, ad the scallop border was die cut with the Edge It Kit from Lifestyle Crafts.  Oval Frames were cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities.

Stampendous! March Shaped Card Challenge

Come join us for a new challenge this month at the  Stampendous blog!  Its all about shaped cards this month!  I chose to use Cowlick Sunflower for my card, so I mimicked the flower shape with a large Scallop circle.  I cut two large rust colored cardstock pieces and one pattern paper of the same size with one of the Nesting Scallop dies from QuicKutz for Lifestyle Crafts.

My gold pattern was cut with a size down, as was the actual card "base".  The base I folded in half then ran through my Epic machine leaving a small bit at the top fold uncut by the die.  I then folded that again in half on the front part to form the front of the easel.

Cowlick was colored in copics, picking up the orange and rusts of my papers from Basic Grey and Cosmo Cricket.  I tied a large golden yellow bow (May Arts) and adhered with a craft size glue dot to the upper left of the flower card.  The tag uses a sentiment from Birthday Assortment.  Here's the card laying flat.

And here's cute little Cowlick up close...he's one of many new stamps in the newest character line from Stampendous!  The Cowlick Collection....Mooooo!  How cute is he??

And on the inside of the card I stamped another phrase from BirthdayAssortment and added a sunflower (stamped from the Cowlick Sunflower and cut out).  This is the piece that will catch the front of the card and make it stand up in an easel.

Desert Island Crafters Challenge

Its the first of the month...can you believe it?? Its also time for a new Itinerary at Desert Island Crafters Challenge! This week is Jen's Itinerary:

I actually used a lot of items on this one: #1,2,4,5,8,9,and 10!  But its not actually a new tag.  I created this for the January Stampendous! catalog.  It not only made the catalog, but its being featured at the top of their webpage right now too! Pretty cool :)

I started by stamping the dress form from Corset Ladies onto a piece of canvas and embossing that with Detail Black EP.  I then spritzed the canvas and my tag with Cinnamon, Starfish, and Creme de Chocolat Glimmer Mists.  I then stamped various pieces from Corset Ladies onto the tag in distress ink, and finished it off by edging the tag in Aged Gold Embossing Enamel and some Chunky Champagne Glass Glitter.

The background panel was stamped with Railroad Poster and distressed. The project was finished with some thick jute, stained string cording, and a sun charm.

Dreamweaver Stencils Spring Clean and Simple Challenge

Its Thursday and the first of the month so its time for a NEW challenge at Dreamweaver Stencils!  This month we are keeping it {Spring} Clean and Simple!  I pulled out one of my favorite CAS cards for this challenge that I created for the January Dreamweaver Stencils CHA release.

I paste embossed Retro Standing Cat onto Spring Green cardstock with Matte Black paste and Big Dots on Bright Pink cardstock also using Matte Black paste.

I kept the layout very clean and symmetrical, adding just a few mats and of course some yummy ribbon!

How cute is that Retro Kitty??? LOVE it!!  Now, go get busy, pull out your stencils and play along!  You have all month to play, and you can play as many times as you'd like!
